Welcome to the class blog of the 2010 Advanced Oral Communication 4 course at Chukyo University, in Nagoya, Japan. My name is Jerry Talandis Jr., and I’m the instructor for this course. This is a space where my students can post their class projects.
This class is for senior students in the British-American Studies (Eeibei) department. Traditionally, students in their final year have had their attention divided between completing their studies and finding a job. This course was designed to help bridge this divide by providing students with a scheduled time and space for exploring possible career options. Through English discussions, online research, and multimedia projects, students were required to investigate career paths of interest. This enabled them to improve language, presentation, and media skills while simultaneously clarifying career goals. As a result, students were able to tailor this course to their own needs and interests, learning English in personally meaningful ways.
Finally, given our career-related focus, it is our hope that this site can serve as a resource for students looking for information about various careers.
