Scott Greene <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(Tuesdays, 2nd period)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will be a 2\nsemester course that will focus on the language and practices of business in a\nglobalized world.&nbsp; We will focus on your Professional Development with\nspecial emphasis&nbsp; given to practical job hunting strategies and\ninterviewing skills. This course will help you become proficient in conducting\nbusiness activities&nbsp;such as job hunting, negotiations, presentations and\ndesigning business strategies. As time permits we will also view films and\ndiscuss&nbsp;current topics that directly relate to you. Assessment&nbsp;will\nbe based on participation coursework and a final exam&nbsp;or project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be some special units in this course which focus on professional skills. In the spring semester, students will prepare a professional presentation and compete in a BACS presentation contest. In the fall semester students will practice specific language skills for business and professional communication, including meetings and telephoning.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Teobesta Tesfa Endrias <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(Thursdays, 2nd period)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Professional English course I-II will focus\non cultural themes while maintaining a business angle. The main aim is to help\nstudents develop their English at an advanced level to give them increased\nconfidence in professional communication and etiquette, including conversation,\ndiscussion and a power point based presentation. In the spring, the course will\npay special attention to the BACS and the Annual All Japan Student English\nPresentation contest, with the visit of special guests who will share their\nsuccessful experience. In the fall, students will have simulation sessions\ninvolving meetings, telephoning, interviews and other practical skills needed\nin professional settings. Students will have ample opportunities to practice\nthe topics and themes learnt in this class as they will be coordinated with\nother 3rd year Professional English courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be some special units in this course which focus on professional skills. Beverley Lafaye <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(Thursdays, 3rd period)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Head for Business<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Successful oral\ncommunication is an art,&nbsp;which can be learned, practised and perfected.\nThis course aims to teach you how to express yourself well in small groups,\nmeetings and public situations. The words \u2018preparation\u2019 and \u2018presentation\u2019 will\nbe key in this class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\nwill be some special units in this course, which focus on professional skills.\nIn the spring semester, students will prepare a professional presentation and\ncompete in a BACS presentation contest. In the fall semester students will\npractise specific language skills for business and professional communication,\nincluding meetings and telephoning, and simulate a full business meeting.
